Should symptoms persist for more than four hours…

In the early 19th century a common cure for constipation was Pilula Hydrargyri.  The small blue pill contained Mercury and when taken with a saline solution helped with constipation, especially with the members of the Royal Navy who did not see much fiber in their diets.

In the 1970’s a new club drug started to appear called Extacy or simply E.  I always preferred the blue ones thinking they tasted like grape.  Although I always thought this after taking them so my perception may be a little off.

In 1999, on the big screen, Morpheus asks a totally confused Neo if he would rather take the blue pill (the story ends) or the red pill (where you stay in wonder land).  Neo takes red.

And on this day in 1998, The FDA approved Viagra (the now famous little blue pill) for the treatment of impotence, and the rest is history.  Or herstory, depending on your point of view.

The Historical Inebriant:  Matrix Blue Pill
  • 1 oz Patron Silver
  • 1 oz Bacardi Limon
  • 2 oz Alize Cognac
  • 1 splash 7up

Add ice into the shaker and then add the liquors. Shake for 20 sec. Pour using a strainer into a low ball glass or a hurricane glass. Add a lemon slice for decoration.
